Blood on the sand, by choice

The Arena

Away from the campaign, the realm keeps a place where nothing is at stake except who walks out. Duel a stranger, lead a squad, or bring seven friends and settle it.

Everyone enters equal

Inside the arena every fighter is level 100 with every perk mastered and their core attributes at the cap. What decides a match is how you fight, not how long you have played.

Equipment is drawn at random every round, for players and NPC fighters alike, with no two fighters holding the same piece. Round two is never round one again. Your loadout is not rerolled when you fall, and every ability comes off cooldown when a new round begins.

Nothing follows you home. Arena levels, gear and appearance never touch a campaign save, and your own equipment is waiting when you leave.

How a match runs

From the hub to the last one standing

  1. 01

    Gather

Open Arenas from the main menu. Find or host a hub, public or private by address, and walk in with up to seven others.

  2. 02

    Ready

Each fight starts at a Ready Stone. Stand at one and interact; it glows while anyone is ready there. Press again to step back.

  3. 03

    Countdown

When everyone stands ready at the same stone, a short countdown starts and the hub sends you to one of its arenas at random.

  4. 04

    Fight

Rounds open with three seconds in which nobody can be hurt. Then it is team against team until one side is down.

  5. 05

    Result

Results stay up for a moment. Rematch with fresh equipment, or return to the hub and choose again.

Ways to fight

Alone, or not

Solo

1v1 · Duel

One stone, one opponent. You against an NPC fighter at full strength, best of three, with draws replayed.

Solo

2v2 · 3v3 · 4v4 · Team Battle

Lead a squad of NPC companions against a squad of NPC opponents, each drawn at random.

Multiplayer

Team matches

Real players split into even teams from 1v1 to 4v4. First team to three round wins takes the match. Couch partners always fight on the same side, and an odd player out gets a practice bot.

Multiplayer arenas use the same connections as co-op: LAN and direct address today. In a match there is no friendly fire, nobody can be hurt between rounds, and anyone who stays out of bounds for three seconds is eliminated. Fallen players watch a living teammate until the next round.

Inside the story

The Doll keeps her own arena

The PvP hub is not the only arena. At her waypoints the Cursed Doll offers a training arena in the sky, where the real enemies of each region can be fought again.

It is practice, and she says so: half the experience, no loot, and no lasting consequences. Whether she wants you stronger for your sake or for hers is another question.

And then there is the Cult Arena, which is not a game at all.
