The Old Man
Keeper of the Holy tradition in the Hidden Village. He teaches what he knows, and weighs whether you should be taught it.
The Old Man knows the Holy tradition better than almost anyone alive, and he has not forgotten why it was practiced with restraint.
He is guarded and exacting. He sets a hunt before he will say anything, and then judges how it was done.
“I asked for a hunt, not a slaughter.”
He will teach Holy magic to those who earn it, including a Holy ultimate found nowhere else. But he will not pretend his tradition is harmless.
“Because power does not become harmless merely because we call it Holy.”
His family is divided by the same questions. His son serves the Kingdom, and will not come home.
